Zhu Fushou朱福寿

Appointed general manager of Dongfeng Auto

On March 9, Zhu Fushou was appointed the general manager of Dongfeng Auto after the company’s open-to-world selection.

As one of the central state-owned enterprises, Dongfeng Auto began to separate the decision-making teams from the management teams in 2009, which was an experiment China’s central government made. At the end of 2009, a great shakeup happened to Dongfeng Auto. The company’s leaders no longer took leading positions of its branches. Last June, former board chairman and general manager Xu Ping was appointed board chairman. The position of general manager was open to the candidates from the world.

Zhu Fushou was born in October 1962. He once took vice general manager of Dongfeng Auto Holdings Limited – a subsidiary company of Dongfeng Auto. He also took the leading positions of several subsidiary companies of Dongfeng Auto.

Dongfeng Auto is haunted by the problem of lacking self-owned brands. In 2010, its sales reached 2.61 million units. Its revenue was 345.12 billion yuan (USD 52.5 billion), up 34.6%. This performance is only second to Shanghai Auto Corporation. However, the sales of Fengshen, a self-owned brand of Dongfeng Auto, was only 289 thousand units, far smaller than First Auto Work and Shanghai Auto Corporation.

According to the plan of Dongfeng Auto, the sales will be increased to 5 million units in 2015. The improvement of self-owned brands is highlighted, which is a big test for Zhu Fushou.
